You may not know a lot of people when you start high school. Even if you know some freshmen(新生), you still feel nervous that you don’t know any upperclassmen or teachers. How are you going to make friends among this sea of unknown faces?
Most high schools hold a freshman orientation before school actually starts, which is helpful not only because you can know your way around the building and get to meet some of your teachers, but also because you get to meet fellow freshmen. That way, when you show up on your first day of school, you may already recognize a few familiar faces. When you talk to your new classmates, you’ll probably find that a lot of them are feeling just like you are. They’re all new to the school and don’t know what to expect. Talking about a common worry with them can help you develop friendships.
The work in high school is something that freshmen are possibly worried about. The work in high school builds on what you learnt in middle school, giving you a more advanced knowledge of many subjects. So you may find you have more work to do or that it’s a bit more challenging. If you ever find your work too difficult, teachers can give you extra help. High school also has more extracurricular activities than middle school does such as clubs, music and theatre groups and sports teams. This is a good time to explore your interests and try new things.

The advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet for learning is a subject of great debate.
The most obvious advantage of using the Internet for learning is that there is so much information that is readily available. This saves time and effort for the students who are already very busy. However, using the Internet can make students lazy. Also, there is much false information on the Internet, which many students are not able to tell.
I think used wisely, the Internet can be a great help but used badly, it can have a negative effect on students.

进入查看:2022-2023学年英语周报高一课标版第12期答案及试题(第十二期)
Running taught Amy the importance of training for a race. She pictured herself running a race and crossing the finish line. For months, she ran through her neighborhood carrying a broken-off broom handle, feeling the weight of the torch. She waved at her neighbors, pretending they were cheering crowds. She also printed a picture of a torch bearer wearing the white uniform, replaced the face with a picture of hers, and put it onto her refrigerator door.
Every day, Amy imagined herself as a torch bearer. She was training for a historic running event. On September 26th, while on her daily run through her neighborhood, an express package arrived.
Time passed quickly that year, and before we all knew it, it was the last day of school. All the teachers filled the sidewalk, waving goodbye to the kids. But on that particular day, Steven walked slowly to the bus, his head down, tears in his eyes. He boarded the bus reluctantly, hesitated, and then ran back off the bus to hug Mr. Rowe. “I don’t want to leave you.” He sobbed. With red-rimmed eyes, Mr. Rowe comforted him, “I will miss you, too.”
