听力常作为一种考试题型，目的在于考察应试者对英语语言的把握，考察考生对英语日常交流的理解能力；通常有听对话选择答案、听句子默写关键字词几种形式。
英语听力的学习方法：
1、刚接触新内容的时候，你会听得非常模糊，有很多声音抓不住，因此无法记住。所以英语力第一个阶段的训练就是“模糊的听”。
在这个阶段里，不需刻意记忆，更不要依赖文字。依赖文字会使你的脑袋变得非常懒惰，并且很容易把注意力集中在书面上而忽略了对听力的训练。听得模糊，反复多听几遍即可。
2、直到进入第二个英语阶段：听得清楚。在英语听力的第二个阶段，模糊的英语逐渐变得清晰，每一个声音和音节都可以听得出来，这表示在你的脑袋里，英语过滤系统已经形成。
在听得清楚的基础上继续增加重复的次数，你会逐渐发现自己可以预测即将听到的内容，这表明你的语言学习中心，已经开始掌握英语内容的概率并且在统计。
3、接下来将进入英语听力的第三个阶段——准确预测。该阶段将第二阶段的“预测”强化为“准确预测”，并且助你快速进入第四个阶段——英文思维形成，也就是说不翻译而直接用英文理解英文的含义。
另外，虽然能直接感觉得到英语的思维，但你不一定能马上将它翻译成中文，学习英语的首要目的就是直接用英文沟通，中英互译是后续的事情。
4、紧接着将进入到英语听力的第五个阶段——跟着读。指的是经过前几个阶段的积累，你已经熟练到可以快速准确地跟读所听的英文材料，接近脱口而出的水平，也就是英语听力的第六阶段——开口说话。如何判断自己已经达到开口说话的水平呢？
首先，无意间说出某些英文词组；这个现象的发生并非偶然，而是您的下意识不断练习多次听到的内容，自然而然地把它储存在你的大脑。
其次，当你进入一个场景的时候，比如去超市买东西，或者问路等等，你的脑子里自己出现合适的英语，而且，你根本不需要经过思考，就能脱口而出。到了这个阶段，说明英语就是你的了。
