①那年八月下旬，我和六妹来到西塘，一个小小的江南古镇.
②黄昏我们沿着临河的长街漫行，一条小船在彼岸酒家楼下微微浮动，船夫坐在船头悠闲地抽着香烟.此人三十出头，身瘦衣宽，脸长长的，胡须头发有些零乱.游客朝他拍照，闪光灯咔嚓咔嚓，他毫无反应，只把一条腿歪搭在船舷上，半低着头，默默享受那支短短的香烟.那条腿也瘦，裤管显得有些空荡，薄长的脚板蹬着千层底的黑布鞋.开始我以为他在候客，后来看到船上放着长柄捞网和垃圾篓，才明白他是清洁工。
③他扔掉烟蒂，用桨顶一下岸石，小船就离了岸，慢慢地顺水漂移.除非是给游船让道，他都懒得摇橹.摇橹也用一只手，有心无心，不愿意绷紧肌肉.世上哪有这么悠闲的清洁工!这边游人熙熙攘攘，对岸酒家正在呼喝划拳，而他充耳不闻.我注视着他，人世间的喧哗躁动就变得轻了，淡了，全都成为他的背景。
④上了石桥，我坐在石墩上，看着他和小船缓缓漂进桥孔，又坐到另一边的石墩上，目送他和小船渐渐远去.水面漂过梧桐叶，他漫不经心伸出捞网，连屁股都不挪一下.河边泊着一座“水上餐厅”，船楼的霓虹灯在水中投射出大片光影，奇异，诡艳.他把小船摇到滟滟的灯影里，那一刻真是如梦似幻.
⑤我痴痴地望着他和小船消失在夜色里，不愿离去.过了许久，他和小船从暗影中再度出现，往这边漂过来.这边桥下有个小小埠头，到了这儿，他终于站起来了，小船被一种神奇的力量推着向埠头靠近.他一个跨步上了岸，动作飘逸，恍若仙人.我担心小船因为他的蹬力离岸，小船却继续往前，轻轻触到石阶，好像能按主人心意行事.他拴好小船，上岸去了，我兀自望着小船出神，那把长橹在水中半浮半浸.
⑥“你又在想什么…”六妹似问非问.我没有回答.
⑦吃过晚饭回旅店休息一会儿，我们出来欣赏河街夜景，发现水上清洁工换了一个.这人身如铁塔，头大颈粗，登台唱戏李逵张飞非他莫属.那条小船载着他摇摇晃晃，好生吃力，似乎随时都会覆没.他叉开柱子般的双腿站在船上，膝盖绷得直直的，一只大手将长长的捞网牢牢夹在腋下，另一只大手掌着橹把将小船摇得飞快.
⑧正是放河灯的时候，好几家铺子在卖河灯，有莲花灯、船灯和心灯，还有一种是长方形，都用各色彩纸做成，十分精致.这些河灯点燃了，烛光从里面映着彩纸，漂在水中又映着波光，在黑暗中多么动人啊.可是游客们刚刚把河灯放下去，壮汉就匆匆赶到，“波”的一声用捞网将河灯扑灭，捞起来用力倒进垃圾篓.他那么粗鲁，对寄载各种心愿的小灯不带丝毫怜悯，简直就是“河灯杀手”。
⑨大家七嘴八舌地说：“灯还燃着你就这样…”“你回头再捞也不迟!”“至少等河灯熄了才能捞.”“不要捞了，河灯多漂亮呀!”
⑩壮汉却振振有词，声音像打雷一样：“我是打工的!我不干活人家不给我钱!”
一个小姑娘含着眼泪向一位卖河灯的老太太投诉，老太太操着吴侬软语无奈地说：“跟他说也没有用，他呢…等他过去了就好了…”
六妹很想放河灯，又不甘让自己的河灯遭遇灭顶之灾，就在那儿磨磨蹭蹭.
等了好久，终于等到壮汉驱驭着小船离去.六妹买了一盏小小的莲花灯，下到濒水的台阶，在牵挂与侥幸的目光里，很小心地将莲花灯放到水面.莲花灯畏畏葸葸躲在河堤下，没有漂向河心，这儿有台阶挡着，不到近处发现不了，它是害怕那个壮汉杀回马枪吧.
夜渐渐深了，街市渐渐冷清，寂静.我们走过幽暗的长巷回到旅店，在露台上坐了很久，半分睡意也没有。

①冬日的午后，阳光虽也明亮，但触一触还是有着沁骨的凉。冬以它的冷漠，裹挟尽百花的艳影，留一地斑驳的枯黄。我不由得竖起大衣的领子。蓦地，一棵蒲公英，出现在我的视野里。
②那是一株怎样的蒲公英!叶子的.边缘已露出萎黄的老态，但还是透着铁一般的绿。叶们努力地贴向地面，那是一种力量爆发前，手脚触地的姿势。也是呢，霜一次又一次的从天而降，树叶渐渐飞去，草茎慢慢垂下头来。生命的“红灯”，已经在不远处，正一点点逼近自己，那就用尽全部的力，贴向地面，贴向地面……这就是蒲公英最聪明、最刚强也最负责任的举动。他们明白，要想延续久远，就不能把头昂得太高这样才能把最沉实的爱，尽可能多地传递给儿女。
③我的心不由得疼了一下，这像极了我的母亲。
④去年的这个时节，冬阳阻不住东奔西跑的北风，正如我阻不住我八十岁老母的脚。她在楼下，为我寻挖着蒲公英。“经霜的婆婆丁(蒲公英的俗号)能消炎败火，你这嗓子，应该吃点。”
⑤她半弓着腰，在衰草连片的枯黄里，神情专注地寻找那一小簇一小簇的绿。她时不时地弓腰，用那曾经丰腴饱满而至今肉皮松弛的手，极其小心地翻检着枯黄的草，似乎蒲公英长着脚，一不小心，受了惊吓，就会跑掉了似的。母亲的脚步，已失去了早年的利落，有些蹒跚。那是一双怎样的脚啊!为了让孩子们正常地进入学校，她携夫带子，脚板直探向千里外陌生的异乡;为了一家老小能吃上饭，她不分白天和夜晚，不惧严寒和冰霜，用那细小的绣花针，绣出蟒袍上那呼之欲出的龙的模样，再用一双脚板，驱北风，走冰路，登火车，为一家换回不很丰裕的口粮。
⑥风，不时掀起母亲的白发，就像掀动一团绒绒的、洁白的蒲公英的种子。它是想探寻那丝丝缕缕里，藏着多少生活的艰辛?那就去问问太阳和月亮，几十年晨昏的默默相伴，它们如何把一个面如花，发如墨的纤纤女子，伴成了眼已花、头覆雪的颤颤老妪!探询那长长短短里，浸着多少爱意的疲累?那就去问问星辰，千千万万次的斗转星移，如何刻录下一个个儿女渐渐长大的足迹，还有母亲的血泪和汗滴。
⑦渐次地，她的儿女乘着她那用善良、勤苦织成的爱的伞，找到自己生根发芽的一片片土地。她的脚，不怎么好用了——移动缓慢，脚步蹒跚，但她的心，还是不断地牵挂，就像那天，风在楼下，母亲在楼下。
⑧如今，母亲已去，留一棵蒲公英在这冬日里与我面对。我伏下身，看着那泛黄的叶片，眼就情不自禁地盈满了泪。我伸出手指，沿着叶脉轻抚，与你对话。你知道，你知道你碰到了我心最柔软的角落，它在疼吗?在我疼惜的泪光里，我看到你透着如铁的刚强与坚毅，打着爱的“旗语”，温暖着我层层叠叠的孤寂。
